For almost a year now, THE SERENA GROUP hasCELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS been involved with a wonderful charity that benefits our military men and women and their families called… “CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS.”

It has been a wonderful experience for our team. The reaction and enthusiasm for this cause from the people who have gotten involved from a support standpoint, as well as, the wonderful support, in the form of cell phone donations, from our community has been a joy to behold and we thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for supporting this worthwhile effort!

FAR - CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERSIn August, THE SERENA GROUP was approached by a former Florida of REALTORS (FAR) president, after reading a press clip picked up by FAR, asking if our team would be interested in presenting a challenge to all REALTORS planning on attending the convention to bring all of their old cell phones along to donate to “Cell Phones for Soldiers.” We were honored to accept that assignment and proceeded to arrange for a booth to be set up at the FAR convention where we could accept donations and enlisted the support not only from our local Keller Williams family but also our local (MAR) Manatee Association of REALTORS and all REALTORS from the Manatee County area of Florida. We are delighted to report that the FAR Convention effort of behalf of “Cell Phones for Soldiers” gathered over 300 cell phones which equates, after recycling, to over 300 HOURS OF TALK TIME FOR OUR MILITARY FAMILIES! Our thanks to Frank Kowalski, Jeff Zipper, and Jeanie Unterbrink from FAR for offering this opportunity and to all the REALTORS who attended the convention and brought their phone donations… this is the most wonderful gift that any of us could give our military personnel… and most especially their families waiting patiently at home for the safe return of their loved ones!
Most recently, we have elicited and received the assistance for our continued effort in Manatee County to collect phones from a fantastic local restaurant, THE ANNA MARIA OYSTER BAR. With the blessing of John Horne, the owner, and Troy Shrock, the manager of the ANNA MARIA OYSTER BAR locations, we have set up drop boxes for cell phone donations. Now, if you are lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful meal at any of the 3 Manatee County ANNA MARIA OYSTER BAR locations, you can also bring along your old cell phones and make a donation to “CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS!” You will leave not only with a happy tummy… but with a happy heart knowing that you’ve made it possible for a military family to hear the voice of a loved one so far away!
